Summary of Alignment & Usability: Amplify ELA | ELA

ELA 6-8

Amplify English Language Arts instructional materials for Grades 6-8 meet the expectations of alignment. The materials meet the expectations of Gateways 1 and 2, providing students questions and tasks reading, writing, speaking, and listening that are connected to high quality, appropriately rigorous texts. Students build their literacy skills over the course of the school year through cohesive study of topics and academic vocabulary while engaging in a breadth and depth of reading and practice with writing and speaking in integrated lessons and culminating performances and projects. Students build knowledge of topics within each school year as well as across the grade levels, as some topics and themes are repeated in each grade to bolster student understanding. Through integrating reading, writing, speaking, listening and language development, students engage in texts to build literacy proficiency so that students will independently demonstrate grade-level proficiency at the end of the school year. The materials meet the expectations of Gateway 3, with well-designed lesson plans, teacher support, differentiation support and teacher resources available on an electronic platform that is easily navigable.
