Report Overview
Summary of Alignment & Usability: Investigations in Number, Data, and Space, 3rd Edition | Math
Math K-2
The instructional materials reviewed for Grades K-2 meet the expectations for focus and coherence in Gateway 1. The materials meet the expectations for focus as they assess grade-level topics and spend the majority of class time on major work of the grade. Even though the materials are viable for one school year and foster coherence through connections within the grade, the materials partially meet the expectations for coherence. The materials partially meet the expectations for rigor and the mathematical practices (MPs) in Gateway 2. The materials partially meet the expectations for rigor as they develop conceptual understanding and procedural skill and fluency, and even though the materials identify and use the MPs to enrich the content along with attending to the specialized language of mathematics, the materials partially meet the expectations for the MPs.

Math 3-5
The instructional materials reviewed for Grades 3-5 partially meet the expectations for focus and coherence in Gateway 1. The materials meet the expectations for focus as they assess grade-level topics, except in Grade 4, and spend the majority of class time on major work of the grade, except in Grade 3. Even though the materials are viable for one school year and foster coherence through connections within the grade, the materials partially meet the expectations for coherence. The materials partially meet the expectations for rigor and the mathematical practices (MPs) in Gateway 2. The materials meet the expectations for rigor as they develop conceptual understanding, procedural skill and fluency, and application, and even though the materials identify and use the MPs to enrich the content along with attending to the specialized language of mathematics, the materials partially meet the expectations for the MPs.
