
Dr. Lisa Famularo
Principal, Learning Scientist
Dr. Lisa Famularo is the Principal, Learning Scientist at EdReports. In this inaugural role, she establishes and leads the organization’s learning science practice, grounding curriculum review tool innovation in rigorous research and evidence-based instructional practices. Lisa serves as the internal expert on learning science, partnering with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure all review tools reflect sound learning models, rigorous efficacy criteria, and evidence-aligned instructional expectations.
Throughout her career, Lisa has led work at the intersection of educational research, policy, and practice. She has two decades of experience building and leading research, evaluation, and data functions in curriculum, assessment, edtech, and policy organizations. Prior to joining EdReports, she was the Vice President of Research and Evaluation at American Reading Company, where she built the research division from the ground up. In that role, she also oversaw the submission of ARC’s instructional materials for external review and translated rubric criteria and reviewer feedback into actionable insights that informed product development. Across all her roles, she has used rigorous research to inform program and policy improvement and advance access and equity for all students.
Lisa holds a Ph.D. in Measurement, Evaluation, Statistics, and Assessment from Boston College, as well as an M.Ed. in Educational Psychology and a B.A. in Journalism from Temple University. She lives in a small coastal town in southern Maine.
