Instructional materials partially meet the expectation of providing opportunities for rich and rigorous evidence-based discussions and writing about texts to build strong literacy skills. Materials partially meet the criteria for providing opportunities for different genres and modes of writing. Kindergarten materials provide partial support for foundational reading development and standards alignment. Instructional materials provide coherently sequenced questions and tasks to support students in developing literacy skills; however, materials do not provide culminating tasks in which students can demonstrate their knowledge of a topic through integrated skills and materials do not include full support for students’ independent reading.
